Break Out of Your Nail Polish Rut
If you’re anything like us, once you find something that works for you, you stick to it like glue. There’s definitely something to be said for “if it’s not broke don’t fix it”, but when it comes to your manicure, there’s definitely room for experimentation. Getting out of a style rut can seem daunting, but we’ve come up with a few tips on how to get you out of that nail polish rut. Trust us – it’s time for a change.
Start Slowly
The best way to switch things up while staying true to your personal style, is to not stray too far outside your comfort zone. If you love light colors, like Morgan Taylor’s Birthday Suit, jumping straight to a darker color, like Morgan Taylor’s Little Black Dress, isn’t ideal. Instead, try staying in the same color palette, but going brighter or darker. If you love bright colors like purple (such as OPI’s Suzi & The 7 Dusseldorfs), try another bright color in the same palette, like a bright pink (like Morgan Taylor’s Prettier in Pink).
For those partial to sporting black manis try a dark version of another color – CND’s 131 Midnight Swim offers a dark blue similar to the dark shades of black.
Be Bold
Don’t be too reserved, however. The point of leaving your comfort zone is to find something fun and new and leave the norm behind. This being said, if you are truly stubborn or faithful to a certain color, there are other ways to shake it up. Alter your regular color by adding glitter or nail other nail art. Consider investing in a nail kit like Cina Pro Rock Star Glitter Mini Kit to add new fun flair to your old style.
Topcoats Are Your Friend
Most people forget that the finish of your nail is a great way to change up your mani without too much effort. Instead of a your usual top coat that provides shine, change it up by using a matte topcoat. This simple trick revamps your old style into something new and unique. We’re partial to Morgan Taylor’s Mattes a Wrap Top Coat.
Now go forth and get those nails done.
